how's nz?

after being here in New Zealand for a good one month, hello!!! hello to those who still cares about my blog and my wellbeing!! i'm fine and alive until today, alhamdulillah.
anyway, a month here has been alright. i've been wanting to blog since the first week, but look at me, typing after three weeks of procrastination. things settled down pretty easily for my housemates and i, alhamdulillah. we got amazing house, good wi-fi, nice rooms and everything. we got lots of help from our seniors, they gave us like literally a whole bunch of starter pack (ie rice cooker, some kitchen tools, hair dryer, duvet etc) for us to live here. that has made our life waaay easier. syukur alhamdulillah. i honestly don't know what else to talk about really, when my parents asked me how's life and what am i doing, i have no idea what to answer. it's just cold. very cold hahaha at night, the temperature goes down till -3ÂșC (the lowest we've experienced), which was two days ago, if i'm not mistaken.

was it hard to adapt? well, not really except for the praying and food parts. both of this part relates to Islam, basically. living here for only a month, so far had taught me to appreciate Malaysia– one of the countries with the biggest Muslim population. countless time we've been told how lucky we are having to born in Malaysia because indeed, we are very lucky to have surau/prayer rooms/mosques, safe to say, everywhere we go. here? yeah of course you can solat anywhere on this Earth but being a girl with discharges and whatnot? that's not easy. to make sure you are really clean, fully covered and ready for prayer, that's not as easy. it's harder because of no water hose in the toilet.
as for the food, it's not as bad as people would think it is. searching for halal food wasn't as easy in Malaysia, where you can just look for the jakim halal signs and you're good to go. here? we're like the detective. searching for haram and syubhah codes in the ingredients list for almost every food that we want to try. and coming across the haram code is so heartbreaking especially when you really want to try that food!! don't let me start on the chickens and beef :'( we only have two brands here in the usual supermarkets, that sells halal chicken (saves our lives). but don't get me wrong, there are quite a number of restaurants that serves halal food options, so be grateful. maybe it's not as much as Wellington and Auckland but that's alright. also, we have the asian market across the street. that makes us feel more like home (can find Malaysian products there!! no big deal)

that's basically it for now. i miss my family and my friends but not that hardcore phase yet hehe wait till i got mental breakdown then i'll cry like crazy wanting to go home so bad. till then.
